Safeguarding

Every educator who accepts paid bookings uploads their Enhanced DBS certificate. A Questipedia admin manually reviews the document before the profile is published. Educators without a verified DBS can only host free study rooms, not deliver paid lessons or 1:1 sessions.

Schools that require it can request evidence packs for the specific educators assigned to their pupils.

• Every live lesson displays a recording-consent notice before pupils join.
• Sessions involving under-18s may be recorded for safeguarding review.
• Recordings are stored privately and are only accessible to Questipedia admins and the lesson's educator and pupil(s).
• Schools can request deletion of a recording within 30 days.

All in-app chat runs through automated moderation for grooming keywords, PII exchange (phone numbers, addresses, external social handles), profanity, and self-harm signals. AI companions are constrained to on-curriculum responses and refuse off-topic personal conversation.

Any user in a lesson can raise a report, which creates a ticket in the admin queue and may trigger an automatic suspension pending review.

A parent or guardian must link their account to any pupil under 13 before bookings are permitted. Where a school licence covers the pupil, the school's nominated contact acts as the consenting adult under a written arrangement.

Serious safeguarding concerns are triaged within 24 hours (7 days a week). The reporting routes are:

• In-lesson: use the red flag icon in the toolbar — this pauses the session and pages an admin.
• By email: safeguarding@questipedia.co.uk
• Schools with a licence get a named safeguarding contact and a direct escalation line documented in their onboarding pack.

Where required by law or professional duty we refer concerns to the LADO, the police, or the NSPCC helpline (0808 800 5000). Questipedia does not obstruct or delay statutory referrals.

• We do not train our AI models on pupil work or chat.
• We do not share pupil data with advertisers.
• We do not permit adult-to-pupil private messaging outside supervised lesson contexts.
